Whakainaka project.

IMG_1131.JPG
We are a part of a city wide project to protect our whitebait.. It is called the whakainaka project. Inaka is the Ngai Tahu word for whitebait.
We go out on Wednesday afternoon to Anzac Drive where the old Kate Sheppard rest home used to be. We check five sites for pests.
We put peanut butter cards on the posts and when we come back we look to see if they have been eaten.  In the picture above you can see it has been chewed at the bottom by a hedgehog or maybe a rat.
