For the past few days I have been doing Koru games from the 17 of September to the 19 of September. I was playing netball at Koru games.
I had such a good time there we had heaps of wins and a couple of lots but that okay. As long as my netball team was having a good time then so did I. We came 6th out of the whole Koru games which I think was very good for us but I'm very sad that its my last year to do Koru games. I'm sure I'll have heaps more times to do netball next year at Avonside Girls High School.

Caitlyn's maths challenge
The challenge was to make a 3 x 3 cube with 27 blocks. There were 3 blocks with 9 different colours. The idea was to have 1 colour on every face of the cube. I made 9 rods, each with 3 colours on it. I then made 3 faces each with 3 rods on it. Next I added the faces on top of each other to make the cube. Here is a photo of me with my cube.
I think it took me around 10 minutes once I found a strategy.

Rutherford's Den
It's all go here in Tangaroa this term! In addition to our own science experiments in class, we have been exploring Sir Ernest Rutherford's contribution to the world of science in a series of trips to Rutherford's Den at the Art's Centre this week.
We learnt about his work, life and achievements. We did some hands on play demonstrating some of the theories he worked with, and created our own carbon atom!

Relationship and Sexuality Education
Last nights parents of students in years5-8 braved the cold to come and hear a little about the health programme we are teaching this term. Puberty! What were you taught as a child? How does your family talk about this topic?
We shared this powerpoint with parents last night as an overview of the topics we are covering in the course of this unit.
If you weren't able to make it, have a look. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or your classroom teachers for more information.

Learning conversations
That's right, it is that time of year. First round of learning conversations were last night and it was such a joy to watch students share their learning with whānau. Can't wait to see more of you tonight!
It might be cold outside...
It might be cold outside but that doesn't stop Mosiana, Willow, Jaime and Nabraska enjoying ice cream made in science. This term's focus is chemistry and we are having fun looking at physical and chemical changes. Watch this space for more exciting experiments.

Career Expo Day for Year 6 Students
This afternoon had arrived faster than we had expected as students were adding final touches to their projects to share with Year 6 students. The projects were based on careers researched by students in Tangaroa and presented in many forms. e.g video, slides, posters, diorama. It was very encouraging to see a variety of occupations on display. Overall a very successful expo delivered by our senior students.

Tyler's Loose Part Shed Moments
This is what our kids 'experiment' with when using the Loose Parts Shed Equipment.
They try so many different things in many different ways. Fun!

Term 1 2019-Loose Parts Shed
The Loose Parts Shed has been very popular with our senior students, who thoroughly enjoy building forts, drum rolling, tree climbing and just constantly having fun expressing themselves.
