Blog Challenge #3 - One hand challenge

You may be wondering why I have blogged as photo of spaghetti and cheese on buns?  As most of you know, my left arm is still in a cast after I broke it the other week.  This makes simple tasks reasonably challenging - like brushing my teeth and tying shoelaces.
This weekend I made what I thought would be a simple lunch for the family,  all I had to do was cut the buns in half, open a can of spaghetti, spoon the spaghetti onto the buns and grate some cheese.  Can I just say, that this proved to be a real challenge with one hand!  They did taste good in the end.
So,   what is the most difficult task you can do one handed?  Share a photo or video to your blog.

EDIT:  Check out Isla's response!  Well done, Isla.

Blog Challenge #1 - Breakfast - But don't eat the Lego!

Welcome to day one.

I know that we have shared plenty of work for the remainder of this week. Remember the next two weeks are officially holidays so it is up to you and your family how you use that time....but if you are like me it's nice to have something creative to do. I aim to regularly share blog challenges for you to learn, create and share. This morning's challenge is inspired by the Lego MPR we did on Monday - remember - Don't eat the Lego!

WATCH: LEGO Waffles & Coffee (make sure the sound is on because it weirdly makes the whole thing more real with the sound.
TALK: About the most delicious breakfast feast you could ever imagine. Make a list of all the things that would be in your imaginary feast of deliciousness.
DO: Create each item on your breakfast feast list. The only rule? Your items can’t be made out of food - you can use play dough, lego, paper, papier mache, leaves, stickers, mud, wood - whatever. Sculpt it, build it, draw it, mix it, stack it, layer it - whatever you need to do to create your perfect breakfast feast.
Don’t forget to fake eat your fake breakfast when you’re done.
Post to your blog to share your creation, picture, animation, video whatever!

A teachers appreciation, reflection and routines

Well day 1 seemed to fly by quickly with a lot to do just around the home. Now it's those maintenance jobs that have been neglected for weeks that are now on the 'to do list' I can't hide from it now with no excuses. Plenty of stuff to do at home, with school e-learning and teacher professional development as well.

Yes, a lot of things have changed within the last 24 hours, school is closed but if you're healthy then being isolated keeps you and your family safe.

The boring or mundane part of this whole scenario comes down to motivation, focus and keeping to your established routines. You need to stay in the game and come back to kura in good 'nick', that is mine, Sharon and Mr Redmond's job to keep you in there. You'll miss friends from school but knowing that they're safe is more than enough to make you feel comfortable, that all is right in your 'circle'. You maintain contact with each other and discuss what to do when you're back at school and when 'this thing is over'. Keep that focus going because it's what drives me right now too.

Stick to your routines established with your family or create ones that would help your parents, but remember you're not at school and the time you do things is in your control, so be safe, stay focused and let us hear back from you and how you're doing, you have our email addresses.

Your teachers have left these messages for you outside our studio door.

Exercise is good for the brain

As part of our inquiry into "Growth" we are looking at how physical activity will enable us to grow individually and how this has a long term effect for us. A fitness group in Tangaroa are hoping to benefit from this exercise regime each morning while swimming lessons are being conducted.

This is a Ted Conference video from Wendy Suzuki an expert in neuroscience talking about exercise for the brain and its benefits.
