William Pike Challenge: Passion Projects

The following criteria is what is needed for your passion project, you have been sent the invite via school email, logon and add your project online. Read what is required.

REQUIREMENTS

WHY DO PASSION PROJECTS?

Passion Projects are a wonderfully engaging element of the William Pike Challenge. They allow young people to explore their interests, set goals and work hard to achieve them! This does wonders for their confidence, pride and self-esteem levels.

WHAT IS A PASSION PROJECT?

We class Passion Projects as a skill, hobby or sport that is totally new to a student. This is their chance to think outside of the box and have some fun!

PASSION PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

Students need to complete 20 hours of Passion Projects. They can choose one or more Passion Project to master and are usually done in their own time or you can timetable this into options time at school.

WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT PASSION PROJECTS?

The objective of Passion Projects is to develop student's ability to build and master a new skill. Learning something new can empower our youth, grow their confidence and help them practise universal life skills. Since Passion Projects are something that's totally new to the student, doing them encourages them to take on a challenge and working hard to master it develops determination, concentration and resilience.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE 21ST-CENTURY SKILLS THAT ARE DEVELOPED WITH PASSION PROJECTS?

  • Emotional resilience, perseverance and commitment.
  • Self-belief and a good work ethic.
  • Planning, preparation and organisational skills.
  • Accountability, critical thinking and collaborative problem solving.
  • An awareness of what’s on offer in their community.
